A large piece of shallow water is fenced off with posts, making it a great swimming spot for the little ones.

The Valkenburgse Meer is a large recreational lake and is a pleasant place to stay in the summer months.
You can learn to windsurf and paddle board here, sunbathe on the large lawn, or play in the sand.
The lake and surrounding meadows are a stopping place for various types of ducks, geese and migratory birds.
In the meantime you can see the steam train from Katwijk Leiden chugging past and it is a great combination for a nice day out in Valkenburg.
